Japanese Indigo Dye and Shibori Workshop

Learn about the rich history of indigo dyeing with Japanese crafts and culture aficionado Prue Simmons at her Clunes studio. Discover traditional Japanese shibori and itajime folding techniques to create gorgeous patterns in cloth. Experiment with kanoko, kumo and arashi techniques and watch the magic of the indigo dye transform into a rich blue in front of your eyes. At the end of the workshop, you’ll get to take home your collection of stunning hand-dyed pieces to wear and cherish.

More Information

All materials will be provided, however participants are welcome to bring one additional white item to dye in any material (T-shirt, scarf, pillowcase) if desired. Please ensure items have been washed thoroughly (without softener) before the workshop. Also – please wear clothes that you don't mind getting dye on!
