Businesses in Ballarat Hit Hard by Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has been hard on businesses all over the world, and Ballarat is no exception. Here are the businesses in the Ballarat council area that have had to appoint liquidators in recent months.
- The first business to be hit was OneStopShop, a convenience store in the heart of Ballarat. Owner Annette Nguyen said she had no choice but to close the store after seeing her profits plummet by 70% during the pandemic.
- Next came Paving Perfection, a local paving company that had been in business for over 20 years. Managing director Stephen Thomas said the company had been struggling even before the pandemic hit, but the restrictions on construction sites brought about by the pandemic was the final straw.
- Another business that was forced to close its doors was Kids Clothing Kingdom, a children’s clothing store in Ballarat Central. Owner Julie Nguyen said she had tried everything to keep the store afloat, but there was just no way to make ends meet.
- Finally, there was Clubhotel Ballarat, a hotel and convention centre that had been a mainstay in Ballarat for many years. However, with travel restrictions in place and people working from home, there just wasn’t enough demand for the hotel’s services anymore.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been devastating for businesses all over the world, and Ballarat is no exception. These are just some of the businesses in the Ballarat council area that have had to appoint liquidators in recent months. We can only hope that things will start to improve soon so that these businesses can reopen their doors and begin serving their community again.
